I’ve Tested Hundreds of Gaming PCs, and This $460 Desktop Discount Is Truly Impressive

From humble everyday towers to high-end workstations, you’ll find an overwhelming number of options out there. Gaming PCs are particularly expensive, with powerful graphics cards and snappy processors suited to running today’s demanding titles, so it feels great to snag a deal. Fortunately, I’ve tested dozens of gaming laptops and desktops every year across my decade at PCMag, and can help you identify the best sales currently available.

Looking through the available desktop sales, iBuyPower’s Y40 Pro stands out to me the most. Some neat general-use PCs are on sale at lesser discounts, but at 20% off, this is a sweet deal on high-end parts for just $1,899.99—$460 in savings. It’s not a budget system by any means, but hear me out: The complete package of components in a prebuilt PC is worth its discounted price.

An RTX 5070 Ti graphics card is the centerpiece here, immediately marking this system as a high-end performer in modern titles. This GPU is the first in the upper-tier of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs, with only the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 above it in the hierarchy. Its raw power for high gaming frame rates is significant, and these GPUs are made all the more effective with Nvidia’s performance-boosting DLSS 4 technology.

Joining this graphics card are a speedy AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor, 32GB of memory, and 2TB of storage. This CPU is more than equipped for productivity and gaming, and can support more demanding multitask workloads like streaming. Combined with the GPU, these parts can comfortably play in 1080p and 1440p, with 4K gaming plenty possible. The extent of smooth 4K gaming will depend on the title and visual settings, but especially with DLSS 4, this PC can run anything you want to throw its way. The processor is not from the newest generation, it should be noted, but you’re far less likely to find a discount on cutting-edge parts—the Ryzen 9 tier will still see you through.

Many of the advantages described above apply here, but at a lower level. Typically $1,799.99, this desktop is also 20% off for $1,439.99, which may be more palatable to deal hunters. This PC packs an RTX 5070 graphics card, the truest midrange GPU in the RTX 50 series, but it too is plenty capable of 1080p and 1440p gaming.

This is an Intel-based system, and its Core i7-14700F processor is a bit more up to date (though less powerful) than the Ryzen chip above. This is plenty enough power for gaming and productivity, helped by 32GB of memory. It has half as much storage as the other system at 1TB.

The case is not quite as high-end as the Y40 Pro, but it’s still lovely for a prebuilt PC. The flashy RGB fans on the front, interior, and rear are visible. This is an attractive deal that’s decently priced for mainstream gamers and hardcore players on a budget.
