Chinese e-commerce giant JD has rebranded its community group-purchasing service Jingxi Pinpin to JD Pinpin, signaling the company’s ambition to revive growth for the money-losing business. JD Pinpin is expected to be part of the firm’s newly-established Innovative Retail group, led by Yan Xiaobing, former head of JD’s international business. “The upgraded brand will be held to stricter standards, and will also undergo iterative upgrades in various areas such as merchandise, fulfillment, and operational services,” the company said in a statement.
