Jeep remembers Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs to repair hybrid control software that can cause engine closures and maternity risks.

Jeep recalls thousands of Grand Cherokee 4xe-plug-in hybrid SUVs in the United States due to a software problem so that the engine of the vehicle can be closed unexpectedly.

According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem stems from the hybrid control processor software, which can activate a stall under certain operating conditions. Although Jeep Mother Company Stellantis has not reported crashes or injuries with regard to the defect, the automaker confirmed that the problem is an increased risk of accidents if the vehicle loses the power while it is moving.

The recall applies to Select 2022 to 2024 Model year Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles. Stellantis has not provided an exact number in his provisional application, although the recall is expected to cover several thousand SUVs that were built during the first Production Lun.

Owners will be informed from the end of autumn and dealers will update the hybrid control processor software free of charge. Stellantis also stated that vehicles that are already employed can be safe driven, but encourage customers to plan the repair as soon as they are available.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe, introduced in 2022, is the flag-in-hybrid model from Jeep, which combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with turbo charger with two electric motors for a total system output of 375 hp. It can only be traveled up to 25 miles on electric current and is one of the most visible Jeep entries in the electrified SUV market.

The recall underlines challenges with car manufacturers while adapting hybrid and electrical technology to long -term vehicle platforms. Jeep has promised to expand his plug-in line-up, with fully electric models planned in the coming years, but recalls such as these emphasize the need for robust software tests in increasingly complex powertrains.
