A recent update in some Jeep Wrangler models caused major powertrain malfunctions for some drivers last week, according to reports.
Jeep introduced a software update to its Uconnect infotainment system in Jeep 4xe plug-in hybrid models on Oct. 10, reports Cars.com. However, owners who installed the update experienced a range of issues including power loss while driving, dashboard errors, and more.
The software update was canceled after Jeep engineers were alerted of the problem, according to Cars.com.
The Michigan-based automobile giant on Saturday issued an interim OTA solution to restore the software to its previous version in affected vehicles. The OTA fix is automatic and does not require clicking a pop-up message, unlike the new software installation.
In order for the OTA fix to work, Jeep drivers are advised to turn the vehicle on in an area with good cellular coverage and to leave the car on for at least 10 minutes before turning it off and back on, per Cars.com. Drivers should confirm there is no fault or code in the instrument cluster, as well.
