JERRY Jones has made an official stance on bringing Deion Sanders in to coach the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys are in the midst of a disappointing season, and it is expected that they will move on from head coach Mike McCarthy.
Many fans have called for Jones to reunite with his former player, Deion Sanders, as the team’s next head coach.
Jones addressed these calls for the first time last week, and while he acknowledged Sanders as a great coach, he dismissed the idea of bringing him to the Cowboys.
“I think we’re way ahead of ourselves relative to when and if he decides to go into coaching in the NFL,” Jones said.
“One of his greatest skills, that he really brings to college, is that he almost has no peer as far as being a recruiter.
“Kids want to come play for him. And he has a way of selling that. That is one skill, that recruiting skill, that is not a huge prerequisite for NFL coaches.
“One of his greatest values is in that area of putting the team together and getting great talent to come play for him there at Colorado.
“All of that would go into your mind. But make no mistake about it, he’s one of the top people, young and old, that I’ve been around in the NFL.”
While Jones is ruling out a reunion with Sanders, he isn’t ruling out retaining McCarthy as the team’s head coach.
“I don’t think that’s crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach,” Jones said on Tuesday.
“Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas.
“We got a lot of football left.”
Cowboys fans are vehemently against the idea of retaining McCarthy as the team’s head coach and shared their thoughts on social media.
“If we resign him that’ll be the final nail in the coffin for me and this team,” one fan said.
“Yet another example why it’s time for Jerry to step down or sell the team and let someone else call the shots,” another fan said.
“Jerry Jones needs to be removed from the GM position asap. This team is about to be the next Panthers,” a third fan said.

“Cowboys are so cooked,” a fourth fan said.
While fans don’t want to see it happen, a solid end of the season could save McCarthy his job.
The Cowboys just pulled off a major upset win against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, pulling their record up to 4-7.
While they likely won’t finish the season near the playoffs or even above .500, a good showing down the stretch could convince Jones that McCarthy is still the right man for the job.
There are six weeks left in the NFL regular season for Jones to figure out if McCarthy is good enough to keep his job.
