Big changes are coming to the streaming landscape, as by 2026, Disney+ and Hulu will be combined into a single app. Until then, Disney has the ultra-popular Marvel and Star Wars franchises, while Hulu brings the heat with tons of movies and shows from network partners.
Between the two services, they release a ton of content every week, so I’ll make it easy for you by picking three worthwhile new entries. The third week in August brings a bunch of reality TV, including Chris Hemsworth pushing the limits of human ability, along with the John Wick movies and more. This Week on Hulu and Disney+: PCMag’s Picks
John Wick 1-4 (Hulu, Aug. 15)
All four of the John Wick flicks are hitting Hulu in mid-August, so if you want to have a serious action marathon, now’s your chance. These over-the-top action masterpieces let Keanu do the least possible emoting while he shoots a million people, and the supporting casts are always spectacular. Sure, the “lore” makes no sense, but when it’s this fun, who cares?
Limitless: Live Better Now (Disney+, Aug. 15)
Chris Hemsworth stars in this three-episode series about breaking through human limits using cutting-edge technology. Starring as the Mighty Thor requires you to be in peak physical and mental condition, so he puts himself through the wringer in multiple ways, from intense Special Forces training in South Korea to learning to play drums under extreme pressure for Ed Sheeran. Hemsworth is a charming dude, and this looks like a fun concept.
Levels (Hulu, Aug. 19)
When we see polarizing reviews like 2024’s Levels, our interest is definitely piqued. Peter Mooney plays Joe, a bookseller who meets the love of his life only to see her shot in the head by a mysterious man. When he starts hearing her voice from beyond the grave, suddenly, he’s embroiled in a bizarre mesh of intersecting realities. It’s a little messy and a little derivative, but it’s fun to look at, and the leads have good chemistry.
