Every week this month sees Netflix unleash a big slate of new content for subscribers to stream. Anime heads know that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is always peak, so the new series is worth celebrating, and we also get international drama and a nightmare-inducing documentary. Every week, I go through the listings to pick out new material that’s worth your time; here’s what you should stream the third week of March.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

The Plastic Detox (March 16)

Industrial civilization has brought numerous benefits, but we’re also struggling with unexpected side effects. New documentary The Plastic Detox follows six couples struggling to get pregnant as they investigate a potential environmental cause: the 16,000 fossil-fuel-based chemicals that are circulating imperceptibly in our air and water. Can microplastics bear some of the blame for increased cancer and other illnesses? It’s looking very possible.

Radioactive Emergency (March 18)

Set in the late 1980s, the new Brazilian series Radioactive Emergency is based on a true story you might not have heard about. When a radiotherapy device is cracked open by unwitting recyclers in the city of Goiânia, toxic materials begin to spread, endangering everyone they come into contact with. A team of scientists and government officials must contain it before it becomes an extinction-level event.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run (March 19)

Hirohiko Araki’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most idiosyncratic action manga series of all time, a multi-generational tale of immortal vampires, absurd martial arts, supernatural Stands, and crazy competitions. Steel Ball Run is the new serial anime adaptation of the manga’s seventh arc, which is set in 1890 and follows the cast in a horse race across the United States with $50 million on the line. But the president has an evil hidden goal: obtain the scattered corpse parts of Jesus Christ to gain unlimited power. It’s that kind of story.
