THE Daily Show star Jon Stewart has been slammed online after his apparent MAGA dig appeared to backfire.

Stewart was left with a bloodied hand after he smashed a coffee cup during his show that aired on Monday night.

The comedian, 62, was taking a dig at Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency which he spearheads.

“I’m starting to think that we as a country don’t understand where the real waste, fraud, and abuse in our system really is,” he told viewers.

He then suggested ways the government could save money, such as by clawing back subsidies given to oil and gas companies.

Stewart then lashed out at the subsidies given to big pharmaceutical companies.

“The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege to negotiate the price of 10 of their drugs?” he fumed.

And 10 is all of them, right?

“It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket, and that the American people didn’t expect that we should negotiate for all their f***ing drugs because we’ve already paid for it with our subsidies!”

Stewart then smashed the mug which had “World’s most dad” on the front of it.

The mug shattered into pieces all over the desk and the host continued his rant.

Moments after the mug smashed, the crowd burst into raptures with raucous applause.

He then looked sheepishly at his hand and noticed the wound.

“I’ll be going to the hospital soon,” he quipped.

Stewart continued his anti-Trump tirade but kept his injured hand out of shot.

But, he was slammed online. “Smashing that cup showed exactly how desperate Jon Stewart is to not be totally irrelevant,” one critic mocked.

While others were taken aback by the segment.

“Jon Stewart so upset he accidentally broke his mug and cut himself,” a viewer said.

“After a few minutes lifts his hand to reveal a bloody mess and the crowd was NOT ready.”

“The mug didn’t see it coming,” another fan quipped.

Comics and actors have turned to politics as part of their skits.

HANKS BACKLASH

Earlier this month. the iconic star Tom Hanks came under fire for his role in a Saturday Night Live skit.

He made an appearance on an episode that marked the 50th anniversary.

Hanks sported a red MAGA hat as he appeared on the mock game show Black Jeopardy!

The quizmaster on Black Jeopardy asks questions that are favorable to the Black community.

Hanks was playing Doug – a character that first appeared on the show in 2016.

In the sketch, Hanks refused to shake hands with the mock gameshow host Darnell Hayes.

“Don’t like that, woah, woah, woah,” Hanks said.

Hayes tried to reassure him and Doug shook his hand.

But, it seemed to irritate some Trump supporters, who claimed the skit was “racist.”
