If you were affected by a 2021 data breach of the car parking app ParkMobile, you may be getting an email detailing a small class-action settlement. The problem is that the payout is just $1, and it’s difficult to access.

The funds for select customers, spotted by Bleeping Computer and The Drive, include up to $1 of credit to be applied toward future ParkMobile service fees. The company previously offered up to $25 in cash payments, but those who failed to submit a claim are now getting the $1 credit.

The discount must be used in four separate transactions, each for an amount of $0.25 per visit. You also need to manually access the credit, rather than it being automatically applied. It’s under Payment > Discounts within the app, and you want to use the discount code P@rkMobile-$1.

This will only work on accounts using an email included in the initial 2021 data breach. One Reddit user found the discount code incompatible with their account, despite receiving the email.

Most users also need to access the credit by Oct. 8, 2026. However, if you live in California, you won’t have an end date on using the credit.

The 2021 incident involved the leak of information for over 21 million users of the parking app due to a vulnerability in third-party software. That included customers’ names, mobile numbers, email addresses, license plate numbers, vehicle nicknames, and more.

The brand said in April 2021 that encrypted password information was included in the leak, but the encryption keys to read those passwords were not accessed. No payment data was stolen.
