Having unveiled the prototype design at CES 2025, Lenovo has finally officially announced the much anticipated Legion Go 2.

Lenovo explains its upcoming Legion Go 2 will build on the “success of the first generation” Legion Go, by retaining its DNA while incorporating key improvements.

Considering we awarded the original Legion Go a measly 3.5-star rating, and hailed the handheld gaming console as “both enjoyable and frustrating to use in equal measure”, we’re keen to see what those improvements look like.

Big screen upgrades

The Legion Go 2 is a Windows 11-based PC gaming handheld, which although has the same sized 8.8-inch display as its predecessor, now boasts an OLED screen instead and promises to deliver rich, vibrant colours and deep blacks too.

Other improvements from the Legion Go included redesigned detachable Legion TrueStrike controllers with “more ergonomic lines, a smoother feel and a smarter button layout”. Having said that, the controllers retain FPS mode which transforms the right controller into a vertical mouse.

Legion Go 2 specs

Powering the Legion Go 2 is the AMD Ryzen Z2 series of processors, up to the mighty AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme which Lenovo promises will “breathe life into resource-intensive AAA, indie and retro games” alike. Although we’re yet to review this processor ourselves, it’s also found in the upcoming Rog Ally X handheld too.

Otherwise, the Legion Go 2 is fitted with up to 2TB storage, plus a microSD slot with support for up to another 2TB.

Finally, the Legion Go 2 boasts an upgraded 74Whr battery, which is over 50% higher in capacity than its predecessor. As we hailed the Legion Go’s battery life as “nothing concerning and nothing special” and found it lasted around two hours on average, we’d welcome an upgrade.

Legion Go 2 price and release date

The Legion Go 2 will be available from September 2025, with an expected starting price of €999. Further pricing is yet to be revealed.
