LG has teased a selection of new high-end Android handsets suggesting it will launch new flagship smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2013.

Speaking during the company’s official CES 2013 press conference, LG revealed that whilst the Las Vegas based show would be devoid of new smartphone offerings, the South Korean outfit would be readying a section of new ‘tier 1’ smartphones for launch within the coming weeks.

Discussing the company’s re-emergence on the smartphone scene, LG suggested that it would be offering new high-end Android handsets at the Barcelona-based Mobile World Congress expo next month, but failed to offer further details as to what for these launches would take.

“”At MWC next month, and throughout the year, we’ll be bringing more tier one handsets, in various screen sizes,,” James Fisher, LG’s US Senior VP of Marketing said during the Las Vegas based conference. As well as confirming the upcoming MWC announcements, Fisher suggested that the Samsung and HTC rival would offer further new smartphone offerings later in the year.

MWC Rumours
One of the hottest shows on the annual tech calendar, MWC 2013 is expected to see a number of high-end smartphone and tablet unveilings from the industry’s biggest players with Google’s Android platform once again set to be a key theme of the portable tech convention.

Whilst the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is rumoured to have been pencilled in for its own separate launch event in the weeks which follow the late February MWC, Mobile World Congress is still tipped to see a number of key product launches with LG’s new confirmed arrivals to be joined by handsets from the likes of HTC, Huawei, Motorola and Sony.

Seemingly set to take the Lumia brand in a new direction, recent MWC 2013 rumours have suggested that Nokia will revise its Windows Phone 8 offerings with the recently leaked Nokia Catwalk tipped to launch as an aluminium bodied iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 rival brimmed with Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system.
