HO CHI MINH CITY — LG Electronics earlier this month added coding systems to its automotive and home appliances businesses in Vietnam, where it has traditionally focused on manufacturing. The addition of software jobs adds to the fast-growing economy’s attempt to move up the value chain, from factories to the front lines of innovation.
The company’s research and development work focuses on digital systems such as automotive navigation, LG said, adding that the government’s “aggressive R&D talent development strategies” and partnership with Hanoi National University have helped the South Korean giant attract trained personnel.
