After a leak at the beginning of the month, Square Enix has formalized the arrival of a new opus of Life is Strange in 2026. The Japanese publisher invited us this evening, at 7 p.m. to discover this new opus, which will be developed by Deck Nine Games and which should be the direct sequel to Life is Strange : Double Exposurereleased in 2024. Here is everything we know for the moment.

It is therefore confirmed, this new opus of Life is Strange is called Reunion and will come out March 26, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. As the rumors implied, it will be the reunion between Max and Chloé.
Life is Strange : Reunion will mark the end of the bow « Max & Chloé » and should allow Max to regain your powers linked to timeallowing him to travel between timelines. We are promised an emotional opus Who will answer many questions. Another important point, the two heroines will be playable in this opus.
It now remains to be seen how Deck Nine Games will justify Chloe’s return. Indeed, at the end of Life is Strange (in 2015), we had the choice of sacrificing the latter or sacrificing the city of Arcadia Bay. With this decision to bring back the character, the studio draws a line under the entire intrigue and the importance of player choice. Likewise, in Double Exposureseveral choices allowed us to include, or not, Chloe in the story through memories. Opt for a return of the character can thus create a lot of inconsistencies.
I study I promise that player choices will not be forgotten and it will be possible to choose whether Chloe is dead or not. So this promises to have a dual reality, as in Double Exposure. It remains to be seen whether all this holds water or not.
Rediscover the greatness of the Life is Strange license
In 2015, the French studio Dont’Nod partnered with Square Enix for the development of Life is Strange. A new solo narrative license which highlighted Max and Chloé, two best friends who were faced with extremely worrying events in the small town of Arcadia Bay. Max had the ability to go back to the past and control time. But, this power had a very harmful effect on reality with a time distortion that had the effect of creating a massive storm that threatened to destroy the town of Arcadia Bay.
A first opus greatly praised by critics and players. In 2019, Dont’Nod offered us a second opus with Life is Strange 2this time highlighting the adventure of the Diaz brothers, on a road trip across the United States. Then, from 2021, the license definitively passed into the hands of Deck Nine Games (which had already produced the stand alone Before the Storm for the first Life is Strange).
Despite a good opus, Life is Strange : True Colore will not manage to rise to the height of the first two opuses. So, in 2024, Deck Nine decides to return to the origins with Life is Strange : Double Exposureonce again featuring Max Claufield, the heroine of the first game. Unfortunately, here again, the title was not a great success, with a rather shaky narration, numerous inconsistencies and a really laborious system of power. We were far from the narrative quality of the first two games.
With Life is Strange : ReunionDeck Nine Games decides to bring back Chloe Price, the second main character of the original game. Desperate attempt to reconnect with nostalgia ? Or a real, well-worked and prepared story ? Appointment next March 26 to get the answer.
Besides video games, Life is Strange will also have the right to an adaptation into a TV series, thanks to an Amazon production.
