Merged today to Linux Git ahead of the Linux 6.15-rc6 release is support for several more gaming controllers.

With just needing new vendor/product device IDs added to the common XPad driver, there were several more gaming controllers that were trivial to enable support for under Linux. Given the trivial changes without risking existing hardware support, the new product IDs for enabling these controllers were fine for sending in at this late Linux 6.15 stage.

The newly-enabled controllers by the XPad driver include:

– HORI Drum controller
– PowerA Fusion Pro 4
– 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Controller
– Hyperkin DuchesS Xbox One controller
– PowerA MOGA XP-Ultra controller

The XPad patch adding these controllers is also marked for stable kernel versions so this controller support will be back-ported to existing stable kernel series in the coming days.

The controller support was part of these input updates for Linux 6.15-rc6 that also include switching the Synaptics touchpad on multiple laptops from PS/2 to SMBus mode. Affected laptops there include the (Dynabook Portege X30L-G, Dynabook Portege X30-D, TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro 14 v5, Dell Precision M3800, and HP Elitebook 850 G1. Plus that pull also fixes the XPad driver to properly handle the “Share” button on some controllers.
