As a follow-up to the article last week around the open-source NVIDIA Linux driver “Nouveau” about to become much more reliable following fixes, that code was merged on Friday for Linux 6.17.
This week’s batch of DRM fixes merged to Linux Git include those fixes talked about in the prior article. They take care of some hard to track down / reproduce stability issues with the Nouveau driver that would lead to app/game freezes and ultimately losing your desktop session.
These notable Nouveau fixes are now merged in Git ahead of tomorrow’s Linux 6.17-rc5 release. These kernel graphics driver fixes are also marked to be back-ported to the stable supported kernel series too. Look for that back-porting to happen in the coming days for those on current stable versions of the Linux kernel.
Aside from those Nouveau fixes in Linux 6.17 Git, this week’s round of DRM fixes are mostly small and mundane fixes. This merge details all of those items for the week.
