Last month when the Fairphone 6 smartphone was announced, same-day Linux support patches were posted for this modular and repair-friendly smartphone. That Linux support code with the Device Tree (DT) files have been under review and out today is the second iteration of those enablement patches.

The Fairphone 6 was announced as starting at €599 (~$695 USD) and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage (expandable to 2TB via microSD), 6.3-inch OLED 120Hz display, 4415 mAh battery, 50MP main camera, and compatible with the Fairphone ethos built over the years by the Dutch company for its modular and repair-friendly hardware approach.

Fairphone 6 v2

Following a request from Qualcomm, the SM7635 SoC name referenced by the Fairphone 6 Device Tree is renamed to just “Milos” and various other changes made for this second version of the Fairphone Gen 6 enablement patches:

“Changes in v2:
– Rebrand SM7635 to Milos as requested
– Disable pm8550vs instances by default
– Enable gpi_dma by default, sort pinctrl, update gpio-reserved-ranges style, update USB2.0 comment, newlines before status, remove dummy panel for simpledrm”

Those interested can find the v2 patches for the Fairphone 6 smartphone enablement for Linux via the LKML.
