The Charge Limit feature, which lets you set a maximum charge to help extend battery health, was previously only available on iPhone and iPad.
Charge Limit on Mac
Charge Limit is a feature that lets you specify a maximum charge level for your device. At first, this was limited to 80%, but with iOS 18 it was expanded to include options between 80% and 100%. Now, with the first beta of macOS 26.4, Mac users can now specify a charge limit between 80% and 100%:
When Charge Limit is enabled, your device will stop charging within a few percentage points of your set limit. This will help improve battery lifespan by reducing the strain caused by constantly charging to 100%. However, Apple does note that your device will occasionally still charge to the full 100% in order to “maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates”.
You can enable Charge Limit on your Mac by opening Settings, going to the Battery section, and clicking the “info” symbol next to “Charging”.
Charge Limit in Shortcuts
Additionally, the new iOS 26.4 and macOS 26.4 betas bring Charge Limit to the Shortcuts app. Now, you can automate setting your Charge Limit:

Battery Charge Limit is a great way to extend battery health if you’re not a heavy user or are frequently around a charger.
