Madhav Sheth, a prominent figure in India’s smartphone industry, is now joining Nxtcell to reintroduce the Alcatel smartphones in the Indian market. He is known for his roles as CEO of Realme India and CEO of HTech (Honor’s Indian branch). There’s no major information about the Alcatel devices, but Honor’s demise in the Indian smartphone industry leads to Madhav’s decision to venture into a new chapter with Alcatel.
Here’s Everything We Know So Far:
To recall, Alcatel was once a recognized name in the smartphone sector, but gradually it started seeing diminished presence in recent years. It seems with Sheth’s extensive experience, the brand once again aims to reestablish footprint in India. While Honor made a comeback with HTech, it struggled to keep pace with established brands in the Indian smartphone market.
Honor Decline:
Honor faced its competition with brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Samsun and with tough competition, limited portfolio, and weaker brand recall, the company led to slow traction. Amidst these challenges, Sheth’s decision to shift gears may reflect a desire for a fresh start with a brand that holds global recognition and untapped potential in India.
I will be working closely with the Nxtcell team to spearhead technology transfer, foster patent-driven innovation, and ensure that local manufacturing aligns with India’s vision for tech self-reliance. We have successfully signed technology agreements, and our local manufacturing initiatives are poised to boost India’s tech ecosystem and enhance exports significantly,” says Madhav Sheth.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of ‘Alcatel’ smartphones in India.

Re-Entry of Alcatel Smartphone:
Nxtcell aims to reestablish Alcatel’s footprint in India under the leadership of Madhav Sheth who has marked the rapid growth and innovation at Realme, positioning the brand as a significant player in the Indian smartphone market.
As per reports, under the leadership of Madhav Sheth, Alcatel is expected to re-enter the smartphone hub in India with affordable and mid-range options. This initiative aligns with the growing demand for budget-friendly devices that do not compromise on quality. Nxtcell India has the rights to use the Alcatel brand, which it gets from TCL Communication, a company owned by Nokia.
There are several employees from HTech who moved to other companies and one of the spokesperson says, We have right-sized our team structure to optimise our business requirement and strategy for the next two years. Like most start-ups, HTech had also initiated a performance-based workforce restructuring initiative to aim for better resource utilisation supporting the new business strategy. It was essential to streamline processes making the company more agile and efficient that aligns with our evolving business goals.”
