This is all part of a wider plan for the retailer, with the reopening of 78 additional stores on May 15.
In total, 132 Big Lots stores will reopen across 14 states throughout May.
The openings have been split into two phases, with the first wave launching on May 1, and the second set will officially open their doors on May 15.
This move is part of a larger effort to revitalize the brand.
Financial struggles led to bankruptcy filings and mass store closures very recently.
Under the new ownership of Variety Wholesalers, Big Lots! has been working to reclaim its place as a go-to destination for value shopping.

On May 1, Big Lots posted to Facebook, sharing: “We’re welcoming 54 more stores to the NEW BIG LOTS! family today!!
“Thanks to everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this happen! #ThinkBig.”
Some customers are even claiming it’s now ‘better than Walmart.’
One customer shared on Facebook, “I miss our Big Lots. They always had a better selection of summer lawn, garden, and patio decorations than our Walmart!”
Many shoppers commented on the post, begging the chain to open in locations that were previously closed.
States leading the reopening push include North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, where loyal customers have been eager to see Big Lots! back in their communities.

The company says it’s focused on offering an expanded assortment of inventory and unbeatable deals.
Lisa Seigies, President and CEO of Variety Wholesalers, expressed excitement about the brand’s progress.
“The customer response to the newly expanded inventory and fresh in-store experience has been overwhelmingly positive,” Seigies said.
The relaunch aims to capitalize on growing demand for discount retail options, especially as American shoppers continue to seek out savings amid rising prices.
