SKY has rolled out a big free upgrade to two of its major TV products years after the much-loved Sky Q.

The broadcasting giant has already revealed a new second remote control perk, that allows viewers to control their telly using their mobile phone.

But it turns out the firm has some more tricks up its sleeves.

Sky Glass and Sky Stream have finally received reminder notifications.

This means a popup will appear at the top of the screen just before a desired show beings.

All you need to do is add the programme to the reminders list, simply by hitting the new “set a reminder” button found on the show’s page.

But reminders aren’t the only new feature.

Sky has also introduced a number of accessibility features, many previously seen on Sky Q.

Although they are intended for people with accessibility needs anyone can use them.

They include a much-requested high contrast, which effectively acts like a dark mode.

There’s also a magnification tool that lets you zoom in up to 400 per cent.

And an upgraded voice guidance experience allows users to adjust the voice speed to their preference when navigating the TV interface, as well as some apps.

Audio Description is rolling out for Sky on-demand shows too.

Finally, the settings have been simplified and made easier to reach, just by pressing the three dots on the Sky remote and scrolling right.

The move makes the features available on Sky Q and Sky Glass more aligned than ever.

Though those who prefer to record shows to keep on their living room box remains exclusive to Sky Q only.

TRY SKY’S NEW SECOND REMOTE

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun

I’m always misplacing my Sky remote.

There is a feature that can help you to find it on Sky Glass (just say: “Hello Sky, find my remote” and it’ll start beeping).

But this isn’t an option for Sky Stream.

So the added benefit of a digital remote on your mobile seems like a great idea.

I just installed it now to give the feature a whirl and it’s super easy to set up – I was using it within 30 seconds.

It’s so good that I might just use this instead of my main remote from now on, as I have enough remote controls around the place.
