PARENTS have received a new way to keep track of their kids – and it’s all thanks to their Wi-Fi router.
Vodafone is adding the brand new feature to its top broadband hub from today.

The clever tool is simple – it knows when specific devices connect or disconnect from the Wi-Fi.
You then get a “Who’s Home” alert in the Vodafone Broadband app.
Vodafone says it is the first provider to introduce such a feature in the UK.
Not only could it be helpful for knowing exactly when one of the kids has got home, it may be of use to keep track of those who are vulnerable or elderly family members.

All customers have to do is create profiles in the app for each household member by linking their smartphone.
Once added, each person receives a text message invitation to opt in, so privacy and control remain in their hands.
There’s also an option to opt out at any time by sending a text – but kids hoping to avoid detection won’t go unnoticed as the account holder will be automatically informed on who’s opted in or out.
Beyond the instant alerts, parents can simply look in the app to see who is currently “at home” or “out” at the tap of a button.
The new feature is available to to Vodafone Pro 3 broadband customers with an Ultra Hub 7 for free.
However, it is being introduced to other routers soon.
