Last month, Stafford and the Rams agreed to a reconstructed contract to keep the 2022 Super Bowl champion in Los Angeles.
However, the agreement came after Stafford was given permission to speak to other teams about his market value.
For several weeks, the Raiders and New York Giants were linked with Stafford.
During an appearance on the New Heights podcast, Stafford, who’s married to Kelly Stafford, both of whom are parents to four kids, shared that the constant trade rumors affected he and his family.
“That was a little nerve-wracking there for a little bit,” the 37-year-old said. “Just trying to figure out what’s gonna go down but happy to be back wearing Rams colors, playing in Sofi, doing the thing.
“… But there were some trade rumors that [were] a little bit tough on the family, because you don’t know what’s going to happen next.”
Stafford also revealed that his decision to revise his contract with the Rams was “a joint process.”
He signed an extension with the Rams in 2022 after originally joining the team the year before.
Stafford originally had $4 million guaranteed in 2025 and no guaranteed money in 2026.
He also faced retirement rumors earlier this year.
Stafford opened up on his move to California after his 11 years with the Detroit Lions, and how his current situation played itself out.
“I can’t tell you how much time I spent on Zillow looking at houses,” he said.
“You’re just sitting there like, ‘Man, where am I going to be? Where are the kids gonna go to school?’ [This recent time] was a little bit of a similar situation.
“But in the end, I know [the Rams] wanted me back and I wanted to be back—we just had to figure that out and we did.”

Last season, Stafford recorded 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while completing 65.8 percent of his passes in 16 games.
“I’m sure as hell happy that I’m gonna be here for at least another year and hopefully some after that,” he said about his decision to return to the Rams.
Stafford will return to the royal blue and gold after leading the team to a 10-7 finish last season.
The Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Round before losing to the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the NFL playoffs.
