As demand for Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) continues to surge, market reports suggest that Google has expanded its cooperation with MediaTek to co-develop a new generation of TPUs, the TPU v7e, with order volumes expected to increase by several times compared with the original plan. According to reports, the first TPU v7e customized by MediaTek for Google is scheduled to enter risk production by the end of next quarter, and MediaTek is also expected to secure follow-on orders for the TPU v8e. Additionally, MediaTek has obtained advanced packaging support from TSMC. By 2027, TSMC’s CoWoS capacity allocated to MediaTek’s Google projects is expected to increase by more than sevenfold. Regarding the market speculation, MediaTek declined to comment. TSMC said that it does not comment on business details related to individual customers. [Icsmart, in Chinese]
