MEGA Millions players have been told to check any slips that may be lying around as a ticket worth $1 million is on the verge of expiring.

Officials say the unclaimed money will no longer be available in three days.

The ticket dates back to a draw that took place in Missouri in November last year, but no one has come forward to claim it.

It is worth $1,000,000 and expires on May 14.

Lottery officials have pointed out that unclaimed prizes are also available in a number of other states.

A winning ticket from a draw held in Louisiana in December last year is still unclaimed.

That ticket is worth $40,000 and expires on June 15.

Another December lotto winner – this time from Arizona – has yet to come forward.

Their ticket is worth $10,000 and must be claimed by June 15.

Another $10,000 ticket sold in Colorado for the December draw remains unclaimed – it expires on June 22.

Lottery player ‘illegally’ banned from taking $83.5m win over loophole even though she played by the rules, lawyer says

From another December draw in Colorado, a ticket worth $30,000 has not been claimed – it expires on June 25.

Mega Millions players have noticed a series of changes to the beloved game of chance.

It now costs gamblers more money to test their luck.

Players could previously buy a ticket for $2, but now the cost of a slip is $5.

However, gamblers have slightly improved chances of winning the top prize.

The odds of winning the jackpot is one in 290.4 million.

Previously, the odds used to be one in approximately 302.6 million.

The odds of winning any prize have also improved from one in 24, to one in 23.

Players have also observed that non-jackpot prizes are broader, ranging from $10 to $10 million.
