LEGENDARY director Hideo Kojima always garners a lot of interest as soon as he announces a new project.
There are three games that we know are currently in development at his studio Kojima Productions.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is a PlayStation-exclusive game set to launch this year, but there are two other projects in development.
At an Xbox Developer Direct in 2022, Kojima revealed that the studio would be developing a new game in collaboration with Xbox.
The horror title, later named OD, saw a short teaser trailer at The Game Awards 2023, as well as the reveal that filmmaker Jordan Peele would be writing for the game.
In contrast to this, Kojima has also revealed another project that the studio is working on in collaboration with Sony.
At the January 2024 State of Play, he announced that he was working on a game/film hybrid temporarily called Physint.
Kojima claims that it is in the early stages of development and that full development would not begin until after Death Stranding 2 is released.
We’ve not seen much from either of these Kojima Productions projects despite how long ago they were announced.
Kojima recently revealed that we might be waiting a while longer before we see more of OD and Physint because of delays.
Last year, the Screen Actors Guild, SAG-AFTRA, asked members to take part in a strike against numerous video game companies, and almost 3k actors agreed.
Kojima claims that the SAG-AFTRA video game strike has caused significant delays to the work on OD and Physint.
A New Year’s message from the creator reads: “Thank you for all your support in 2024. It was a year full of many things…
“For OD, we developed the game and had actor and environment scanning.
“In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike.
“Casting was also suspended for Physint due to the strike. We hope to resume next year.”
There is usually a long time between Kojima Productions announcing games and releasing them, but it might take longer than usual for us to see trailers for the two games.
