Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, are down, which might be a blessing and a curse for office workers.
Reports on Downdector, a website that tracks outages, started just before 7.40am before rising to nearly 880 at 9.45am.
The number dropped to a little under 500 as of 11.50am.
When loading Outlook, an error page appears: ‘Your request can’t be completed right now.’
Users are describing issues viewing emails in their inboxes, sending messages and saving drafts.
‘The original message can’t be shown right now. It will be included when this message is sent,’ one error says.
Microsoft’s service health webpage says: ‘We’re all good! Everything is up and running.’
But Microsoft 365 admin pages report various health issues and advisories on Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 suite and Microsoft Teams services.
They include: Users unable to access Microsoft Teams calendars; European admins experiencing data inaccuracies and users unable to sync or send email messages from Outlook for Mac.
On the American Downdetector, only about a dozen reports have been made so far.
Microsoft 365 is a family of software that includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
While no major outages have been reported in the US, issue reports on Downdetector have crept up to 34 in the past 15 minutes.
Microsoft has been approached for comment.
