Microsoft is taking another big step in bringing AI right into the tools people use every day. The company has announced Microsoft 365 Premium, a new subscription plan that blends the familiar Office apps with Copilot’s advanced AI features. Think of it as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook – but with smart AI assistance built in to make work faster and easier. This new plan officially replaces Copilot Pro and is priced at $19.99 per month.

What’s Included in Microsoft 365 Premium

Subscribers will get the familiar Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote – but with Copilot built right in. The package also includes:

  • Higher usage limits for AI image creation, voice, and deep research.
  • Access to AI agents like Researcher and Analyst, now built into Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Features such as Copilot Podcasts, Vision, and Actions.
  • A Photos Agent app for managing and editing images.
  • 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage and Microsoft Defender for added protection.

Interestingly, Microsoft has also refreshed its app icons to match this new AI-focused era. Expect more three-dimensional designs rolling out across desktop and mobile versions soon.

Microsoft 365 Premium With AI

One major change is that Microsoft 365 Premium lets you bring these AI features to your workplace apps, even if your employer doesn’t provide them. Simply sign in to your work Office account with your personal Premium subscription, and Copilot features will activate while keeping your company’s data protected.

However, only the main account holder gets access to these AI tools – they can’t be shared with other members in a Family plan. Microsoft says it’s reviewing feedback on this limitation.

What About Other Plans?

If you stick with Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, you’ll still see some updates. Copilot Chat will roll out across apps, usage limits will increase, and new experimental features will be available under a program called Frontier. Students can also continue to access Microsoft 365 Personal for free for a year.
