Microsoft and the Generalitat of Catalonia agree to promote the adoption of AI in public services

Microsoft has signed with the Generalitat of Catalonia, through its Secretariat of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation, a renewal of your strategic collaboration agreement in the implementation of innovative digital solutions, focused above all on AI, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public services.

The agreement, signed within the framework of the Mobile World Congress 2026, is focused, in addition to AI, on cybersecurity and data governance. Those in charge of signing it were Albert Tort Pugibet, Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Generalitat, and Paco Salcedo, President of Microsoft Spain. Also present at the signing were Natalia Escobedo, Public Sector Director of Microsoft Spain; and Regina Solé, Account Manager for the Generalitat de Catalunya at Microsoft.

With this extension of the agreement between both parties, the bases are established to be able to identify collaborations between both entities in matters already related to technological transformation. In addition, the text includes a specific commitment to exploring joint work opportunities in the area of ​​digital training.

In this sense, the implementation of training initiatives aimed at the field of education will be specifically valued, especially through teacher training. But also from civil society, for which Microsoft’s collaboration with associations, foundations, NGOs and professional associations will be encouraged. On the other hand, work will be done on the definition of an AI training program aimed at public employees of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

The Generalitat and Microsoft have also committed to collaborating, under the new agreement, in the development and adoption of different digital technologies for the promotion and normalization of Catalan in the digital environmentwithin the framework of the National Plan for the Language and the digitalization strategies of the Generalitat of Catalonia
