GOOGLE has launched a mind-blowing AI tool that lets you create and explore imaginary worlds in seconds.

These video game-style worlds are mocked up based on your wildest dreams – and brought to life before your eyes.

Back in August, Google showed off an early version of this technology called Genie 3.

Now Google is opening up a full version of this tool called Project Genie, and regular members of the public will be able to access it.

You’ll be able to create worlds and then explore them with a character that you’ve also conjured out of thin air.

“This experimental research prototype lets users create, explore and remix their own interactive worlds,” said Diego Rivas, a product manager at Google DeepMind.

It’s built by Google’s DeepMind team, which is Google’s UK-based AI lab that works on cutting-edge computing.

The system generates the path ahead of you in the world in real-time as you move around and interact with it.

And it’ll even simulate physicals and interactions to make the world feel more real.

“Prompt with text and generated or uploaded images to create a living, expanding environment,” Diego explained.

“Create your character, your world, and define how you want to explore it — from walking to riding, flying to driving, and anything beyond.”

He continued: “Your world is a navigable environment that’s waiting to be explored.

“As you move, Project Genie generates the path ahead in real time based on the actions you take.

“You can also adjust the camera as you traverse through the world.”

The system is available as a web app, and is powered by several different Google technologies.

That includes Genie 3, as well as the Nano Banana Pro image generator and Google’s Gemini AI chatbot.

You’ll be able to sketch out any world, a character, and a way of exploring it – like walking or flying or driving.

And you can choose whether you’d like to explore from a first-person or third-person perspective, just like in many video games.

Then you can enter the world and explore it at your leisure.

You can also “remix” existing worlds that you’ve created, if you want to change any elements of them.

Google said that there are still a few limitations.

For a start, generations are limited to 60 seconds.

And the generated worlds “might not look completely true-to-life” or stick exactly to your prompts.

As well as that, you might find that your characters aren’t as easily controlled as they might be in an actual video game.

If you want to get access, you’ll initially need to be a Google AI Ultra subscriber based in the US – and aged over 18.

However, Google said that it would be “expanding to more territories in due course”.

Google added: “In time, our goal is to make these experiences and technology accessible to more users.”
