ESPN host Monica McNutt shared a behind-the-scenes peek at her set for WNBA countdown.
And the popular presenter, 34, and her co-stars gave off “Destiny’s Child vibes.”
McNutt was joined in ESPN’s WNBA countdown studio by colleagues LaChina Robinson and Carolyn Peck.
She shared a clip on Instagram where she asked “what should we call our girl group.”
McNutt began the clip leaned over the desk and talking to camera while in the shot alone.
She was then joined by Robinson and Peck, who flanked the ESPN host.
And McNutt added, “Best answer: Spalding’s Angels.”
She played the song Independent Women by Destiny’s Child over the top of the post.
Spalding is a nod to the manufacturer of basketballs.
While the song Independent Women sees Destiny’s Child dress up as Charlie’s Angels.
McNutt added, “WNBA Countdown Crew was coordinated & I’m always for the jokes.”
Fans headed to the comments section on the post to show their admiration.
“The Dream Team,” one fan wrote.
Another said, “Pretty In Pink!”
While somebody else laughed, “I know Shaq, Chuck, Ernie and Kenny don’t coordinate like that.”
McNutt recently had a run-in with Stephen A. Smith live on First Take.
The awkward interaction happened after Smith and McNutt got into a debate about women’s basketball.
‘Who talks more about the WNBA?’
Stephen A. Smith had a run in with Monica McNutt on First Take about women’s basketball this week.
Smith said that he didn’t like how he needed to “watch every syllable” when talking about the WNBA, but McNutt wasn’t happy with his statement.
“Welcome to the world of being a woman, Stephen A,” she said.
“How you have to dance about your word choice and how you have to please everybody and anybody as you navigate your being.”
Stephen A. gave a comment that really fired McNutt up.
“Who talks more about the WNBA, who talks about women’s sports more than First Take?” Stephen A. said.
McNutt clearly was irked by his question and set the record straight on live TV.
“Stephen A., respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to,” McNutt said.
Molly Qerim and Shannon Sharpe both looked stunned, and Qerim tried to get the show to a commercial break, but the awkward moment continued.
After Stephen A. muttered “wow,” McNutt gave him a reassurance that she thinks he could have done more.
“You’re my guy,” McNutt said.
“But I’m talking to you.”
“You’re my girl,” Smith replied.
“But you’ve missed a lot of episodes of First Take.”
“Who talks more about the WNBA, who talks about women’s sports more than First Take?” Stephen A. said.
And an annoyed McNutt said, “Stephen A., respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to.”
Smith looked on stunned and could only say “wow” as host Molly Qerim intervened.
McNutt had a period of absence from First Take after the row.
But she reassured fans her and Smither were “all good.”
“I’m on the road covering finals as previously scheduled, but squeezing in a couple dope opps, will share soon,” McNutt added.
