Motorola has announced a special edition smartphone finished in Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2026, giving buyers an early taste of next year’s headline shade.

Motorola has announced a special edition Motorola Edge 70 finished in Pantone Colour of the Year 2026, Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201), giving the brand a handset dressed in next year’s headline shade before the year has even begun.

The new variant also leans into jewellery-style design by adding crystals from Swarovski to the back of the phone.

The launch builds on Motorola’s multi-year partnership with Pantone, under which select phones ship in officially certified Pantone shades. For 2026, that colour is Cloud Dancer, a soft white tone that Pantone describes as “calm, airy and focused on clarity rather than loud saturation”.

This edition of the Edge 70 goes a step further than previous Pantone collaborations by bringing in Swarovski as a design partner. Crystals are embedded into the rear panel to emphasise the “ethereal” look of Cloud Dancer, and the phone joins The Brilliant Collection, a curated line of more luxurious Motorola devices that launched earlier this year.

Motorola’s design chief Ruben Castano describes the phone as an exercise in “simplicity as strength,” with the idea that softer finishes can help users slow down and refocus rather than chase louder colourways. Pantone’s Leatrice Eiseman echoes that positioning, calling Cloud Dancer a consciously pared-back hue intended to provide a sense of calm in a noisy world.

Underneath the new finish, this is still the Edge 70 that Motorola launched earlier in the year. Motorola claims it’s the thinnest phone in its class, and the company highlights a very slim chassis alongside a 50-megapixel camera setup, next-generation battery tech and the usual spread of moto ai features that adapt to how people use the phone day to day.

The back uses a soft-touch “soft-luxe” material with a quilted pattern, contrasting against the sparkle of the Swarovski crystals and the muted white of Cloud Dancer.

Motorola announced that the Edge 70 in Pantone Colour of the Year 2026 with crystals by Swarovski will be available in select markets worldwide, with regional pricing and launch details to follow. If you’re thinking about picking one up, it’s also worth checking our guide to the best Motorola phones to see how the Edge 70 stacks up against the rest of the lineup.
