MOTOROLA is preparing to launch a brand new version of its iconic Razr flip phone.

The original Razr V3 launched all the way back in 2004.

This legendary noughties gadget quickly became a hit, landing just before the advent of the Apple iPhone in 2007.

Motorola revived the brand in 2019 with all-screen clamshell and foldable designs.

And now there’s an even more advanced Motorola Razr on the way, landing in just days.

Motorola teased a special launch on April 24, 2025, writing “when the ordinary flips to the extraordinary”.

And the US tech giant included the hashtag “#MakeItIconic”.

Attached to the post was a special video where the outlines of Razr-style flip phones can clearly be seen.

It follows weeks of leaks and rumours about how Motorola is working on releasing at least two different Razr smartphones.

That includes the Motorola Razr 60 and and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, both of which are expected to debut on April 24.

The gadgets are expected to keep the iconic flip-phone design, but sport specs like a flagship handset from Samsung or Apple.

A recent leak by tech blog YTECHB suggested that the Razr 60 Ultra would come in four colours: Pantone Scarab, Pantone Rio Red, Pantone Mountain Trail, and Pantone Cabaret.

There’s expected to be a special button on the left side of the phone that could launch the Moto AI assistant.

It’ll reportedly feature a 6.96-inch AMOELD display – that’s roughly the same size as the panel on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

And the cover of the phone (seen when flipped closed) is tipped to sport a 4-inch OLED display.

Supposedly powering the handset is a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor built by US chip giant Qualcomm, with software from Google (in the form of Android).

The phone is reportedly going to have a 50-megapixel dual camera setup on the rear, as well as a 50-megapixel snapper on the foldable panel.

And inside, we’re expecting a 4,500mAh battery that should keep the phone going for a full day.

The leak suggests that we’ll see 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, with RAM variants of 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB available.

There’s no word on pricing just yet, but the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra currently retails for £799 in the UK.

MOTOROLA RAZR V3 – THE ORIGINAL SPECS

Here’s how 2004’s V3 stacked up…

Dimensions: 98 x 53 x 13.9mm

Weight: 95 grams

Screen: 2.2-inch display (176 x 220 pixels)

Camera: Single VGA (640 x 480 pixels)

Bluetooth: 1.2

Battery: 680mAh (280 hours standby, 7 hours talk time)

Colours: Silver, Black

That puts it in a similar bracket to high-end rival phones, like the iPhone 16 (£799) and Google Pixel 9 (£799).

By contrast, the original Motorola Razr retailed for somewhere between £350 and £500 in the UK – although gadget prices have risen through inflation since then.

However, both of those devices are expected to be replaced by newer models later this year.

Sadly Motorola has yet to confirm official details about the upcoming gadgets beyond a launch date.
