It is more than common for an Android phone to run slowly if it is a few years old, has full memory and few resources. There are quite a few tricks to improve the situation but, mainly, switching to a lighter application ecosystem than Google’s is usually one of the best solutions.
At WorldOfSoftware we were able to test Arc Search in its beta version for Android, and we delved quite deeply into the PC version. Finally, the stable version lands on Google’s operating system and the conclusion is clear: it is one of the best replacements for Google Chrome.
In my case, I have a Google Pixel 6 with GrapheneOS to escape from Google, and Arc Search will remain installed to further improve its performance.
Google Chrome is not a giant application, but it takes up more than 100 MB on our phone and is known for being one of the browsers that makes the worst use of the terminal’s resources. Arc Search weighs just 6 MB, and has practically everything you need in a browser.
How does it surpass Google Chrome? In several aspects. The first of them is that it has several functions powered by AI. Yes, I too am shocked when AI is sold to me as a positive point, but in this case there is good news.
Arc Search allows two types of navigation: the classic one, in which we have the usual search results, and the one summarized by AI. What this allows is to give a quick response to our search thanks to AI. For example, if you are looking for the best mobile phone for less than 200 euros, it will make a summary of what the main technology portals show.
Being such a minimalist browser, it has ad blocking, cookie reduction, quick cleaning of browsing history, and everything necessary for daily browsing. In case you were wondering, this browser is based on Chromium.
The application is completely free and has no advertising of any kind. You can download it from the Play Store and disable Chrome in case you want to gain both space and performance on your mobile phone.
