Apple has, as teased, launch a host of new programs for its Apple Fitness+ platform that are designed to help users stay committed to the typical New Year fitness goals that can soon drift without the proper engagement and guidance.
Subscribers will be able to Make Your Fitness Comeback, and Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks. There’s also a new Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT program, and finally, Strength Basics in 3 Weeks. The latter helps users learn some strength training fundamentals or brush up on their technique. There are three workouts a week focusing on different areas of the body.
Apple says the yoga program is designed to help users “increase flexibility, cut down on stress, and build strength and stability”. There’ll be two new 10 minute flows per week that’ll complement existing workout regimes. The company already has a robust yoga section, so this tailor made program for those dipping their toes is a nice addition.
Make Your Fitness Comeback combines strength, HIIT and yoga with three workouts per week each lasting ten minutes. There’s progressive difficulty for those returning to a regular fitness routine after some time off.
Finally, the Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT program “provides three 20-minute workouts pairing these two popular workout types on Fitness+: 10 minutes of Strength and 10 minutes of HIIT, three times per week, over the course of three weeks. The workouts are designed to be done one right after the other with no break in between.”
Apple is also adding more of its Time to Walk shows back including new stories from Mel B from the Spice Girls, and the actors Penn Badgely and Michelle Monaghan. There’s also new Fitness+ Artist spotlights designed to accompany workouts.
Apple is also teaming with Strava on a “Quit Quitting” challenge for Apple Watch users, which is designed to help users commit to their goals beyond the usual mid-January drop-off point. Strava users who log 12 workouts during the months get an Apple Watch badge in the Strava app.
