DJI has a new top-end drone in its Pro series to try and dethrone itself as one of the top picks of the best drones money can buy. However, there’s confusion over the release of the new Mavic 4 Pro. DJI says it won’t come to the US at this time, but two retailers have it up for preorder.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is available to preorder from both Adorama and B&H, as spotted by The Verge. That’s despite the company confirming it won’t bring it to the US given the current tariff situation. DJI is a Chinese manufacturer, so it’s subject to a tariff of 30% on imported goods.

A spokesperson for DJI told PetaPixel, “The DJI Mavic 4 Pro will not be available for sale in the U.S. upon its global launch on May 13. Like many global companies, we have had to adjust our market strategy as local conditions and the industry environment have evolved.

“While we do not have a timeline for when we can introduce the product to the U.S. market, we are closely monitoring the situation and actively exploring every possible solution.”

No other retailers have the drone on sale right now, and it’s unclear if preorders made at either Adorama or B&H will be honored. If you do preorder now, you may find your order is cancelled at a later date. PCMag has asked DJI for clarification.

The new Mavic 4 Pro comes with a new 100MP Hasselblad camera paired with a 48MP telephoto with a 70mm focal length and a 50MP long telephoto with a focal length of 168mm. There’s also what the company calls an “Infinity Gimbal” that gives 360-degrees of rotation, allowing for better vertical shots. The drone can shoot video in 6K/60fps HDR video on the main camera and 4K/60fps HDR on all three elements.

There’s also a larger battery inside the Mavic 4 Pro giving it 51 minutes of flight time. That’s an extra 8 minutes than the last-gen.

The Mavic 4 Pro doesn’t have an official price from DJI, but both retailers have it up for preorder at $2,699. That’s a big price hike over the Mavic 3 Pro which launched at $2,199 in 2023.
