Qualcomm has just presented its best processor to date. A direct response to the Apple A18 Pro and the recently introduced MediaTek Dimensity 9400. It is the company’s first processor to say goodbye to the classic Kryo cores to embrace a new CPU with Oryon cores.

If you are looking for a new high-end mobile to renew at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025, this will be one of the processors that should be kept in mind. We tell you all its features and specifications.

According to Qualcomm, its new Snapdragon 8 Elite has the fastest CPU in the world. It is a eight core configurationtwo of them running up to 4.32 GHz and another six up to 3.53 GHz. Here, there are practically no intermediate or low-power cores. Only two high-power cores and another six that are also focused on high performance.

Thanks to this increase in power, Qualcomm ensures that its CPU is a 45% more powerful than the previous one, with 44% energy savings. In other words, it is a processor – on paper – almost twice as powerful as the previous one with fairly contained energy consumption. Achieving these figures shows that the generational leap should be one of the most important to date.

Similar figures for the GPU, with 40% more performance and 40% energy savings. Ray tracing performance has also been improved by 35%, and we are told that games like ‘GRID Legends’ will soon arrive on Android using this technology.

Qualcomm’s artificial intelligence engine, powered by its own NPU, also improves. It is now faster, has lower latency, and will allow LMM language models to run much more smoothly. The company tells us that, thanks to this processor, it will be easy to adopt generative expansion functions, resolution expansion by AI, and artificial image segmentation.

Neither Qualcomm nor Apple. This is the current king of mobile processors

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite will arrive on high-end mobile phones from ASUS, Honor, OPPO, Realme, Samsung, Vivo and Xiaomi “in the coming weeks”, so a fairly busy end of the year is expected in terms of launches.
