THE Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered yet another first-round loss in the playoffs and fans are growing tired of the team’s head coach.
The Steelers last won a playoff game in the 2016 season.
The Steelers’ playoff win drought has grown to eight seasons, and head coach Mike Tomlin has been at the helm for all of them.
While he has won a Super Bowl for the Steelers, his time as head coach hasn’t netted much success since that win.
Tomlin and the Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2008 and returned to the big game in 2010, but lost that time around.
In the first four seasons of his head coaching career, Tomlin won five playoff games and the Super Bowl.
However, since then he has been a much different coach.
In the 14 seasons since the Steelers last made it to the Super Bowl, Tomlin has coached the team to the playoffs eight times.
In those eight playoff appearances he has won three games. Six of the eight playoff appearances have been winless.
The 2024 season was more of the same, with Tomlin and the Steelers doing just enough to make it to the playoffs before ultimately getting bounced in the first round.
The Baltimore Ravens were simply too much for the Steelers and easily put them down 28-14.
While Russell Wilson was able to pass for 270 yards with two touchdowns, the Ravens completely eliminated the rushing game for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh only managed 29 total rushing yards.
On the flip side, the Ravens rushed for 299 yards against what is supposed to be a tough Steelers defense.
Lamar Jackson also passed for 175 yards with two touchdowns while contributing 81 of the team’s rushing yards.
It’s been the same result year after year for the Steelers, and Tomlin’s job has been a little too secure for the kinds of results he has been delivering.
NFL fans have started to take notice of this, and they all have the same message for the Steelers: It’s time to let Tomlin go.
