After the S24 last year, 2025 begins, as usual, with the new high -end smartphones from Samsung. A tradition to the air of Christmas after the hour, which intends to perfect the already well -established recipe of its predecessor. Same processor, but boosted performance, especially thanks to artificial intelligence … Does the promise are worth the detour?
Design and ergonomics
At a time when manufacturers play who will have the largest (screen diagonal, of course), Samsung is one of the few to persevere in the compact model sector. If the Korean manufacturer reserves its most imposing format at the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the first S25 has a 6.2 -inch, compact, light and ideal Amoled screen for one hand. The S25+ model wins a more imposing format, which will appeal to multimedia enthusiasts and more generous screens.
Apart from this distinction, little separate the two models. In reality, few things separate the S25 from the S24. We find the same flat bordersthe same mineral glass Gorilla Victus 2 on the back, and the same position of the buttons, rear and connective devices. Only (small) differences to note: the metal contour of the photo sensors has become black, and the edges of the smartphone are slightly more rounded. The thickness of the basic model is also revised downwardswith 0.4 mm less on the 2025 version. Not enough to revolutionize our daily lives, but it is always good to note that Samsung knows how to best optimize its products.
Apart from these some improvements, no change under the sun. The central punch is still there, as is the ultrasonic footprint reader located under the screen. Not enough to go up to the niche: if Samsung does not change (almost) nothing to its design, it is because it is already particularly successful. As for a few generations already, only the slight imbalance created by the photo sensors disturbs the harmony of the product. However, we can quickly remedy the problem by adding a protective shell – more than necessary on a model at this Price.
On the screen side finally, no evolution. Size, resolution and display quality remain the samewith a Dynamic AMOLED 2x slab of 6.2 inch or 6.7 inches depending on the model. We find, without surprise, a Full HD+resolution, an HDR10+compatibility, and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz. On a daily basis, it’s a real happiness, Samsung can definitely do with its screens.

Performances et interface
Under the hood, the two models are equipped with the same chip Snapdragon 8 Elitecoupled with a unique configuration to 12 GB of RAM. What guarantee fluid navigation and excellent multitasking management. No surprise at this level, the performance of the S25 and the S25+ allow you to run any video game as Call of Duty Mobile et Rocket League Side Without slowdown or drop in framerate. A monster of power, which arrives in an optimized version for the new devices of Samsung. It’s beautiful, it’s effective … nothing to say. The only limitations may come from Maximum storage of 512 GB not expandablewhich will undoubtedly miss the most gourmet players.

The entire range is delivered with the One UI 7 interface, based on Android 15. It stands out for a modernization of its general interface (icons, photo application, notifications, etc.), but above all by the presence of new features IA . What confirm that The evolution at Samsung is essentially software. Last year, the manufacturer was one of the first to highlight its Galaxy AI ecosystem, which this time joined the IA functions of Google as well as those of Samsung. All the new features are detailed in our dedicated article, we will therefore be content to return to the existing differences in terms of user experience. We particularly appreciate the Now Bar, which displays the key moments of our day directly on the locking screen. The integration of artificial intelligence is omnipresent, with Audio transcription toolswith images and gemini, the Google vocal assistant. Overall, nothing is really revolutionary, but everything is better.
Solid autonomy, disappointing load
The 4000 mAh battery allows an impressive autonomy of almost 23 hours in mixed usean improvement of 10 hours compared to S24 models. This remarkable endurance is however compensated by a disappointing wired load. Without understanding why, Samsung persists in limiting its S25 to 25W, far from the current standards of competition. The S25+ does better, with a 4700 mAh battery, and a wired load at 45W. Enough to allow 28 hours of mixed use before weakening.

Photo
If photo enthusiasts were able to take advantage of the material news of the S25 Ultra, the S25 and S25+ do not change an iota compared to last year. On both models, there is a main sensor of 50 Mpx (f/1.8, optical stabilization), a 10 Mpx telephoto lens with X3 optical zoom (f/2.4, optical stabilization) and an ultra-large-angle of 12 Mpx (f/2.2).
On these two models, you have to bet everything on software optimization, which fortunately brings more convincing results than its predecessors. The photos have faithful colors and a much more balanced exposure, even in low light. The treatment of details is also reinforced, although the telephoto lens still shows weaknesses in night conditions. By selecting the information icon of the gallery, it is also possible to automatically touch up a photo, and even delete the unsightly reflections of a cliché captured behind a window. Again, the result is effective, by day, but also at night. Without escaping a few graphic awkwardness that appears in certain places, the illusion works perfectly.

Which one to choose?
The notable differences between the S25 and S25+ models are not obvious. It all depends on your priority, and your budget. We will especially remember:
- The size : 6.2 inches for S25 / 6.7 inches for S25+
- The battery : 4000 mAh (23 hours of autonomy) and recharge 25W for the S25 / 4700 mAh (28 hours of autonomy) and recharge 45W for the S25+
- The prix : count 200 euros more for the S25+ model
