After starting his career at Saturday Night Live in the 1990s, and numerous collaborations on the scripts of emblematic series, Michael Schur unveiled his first creation for the small screen in 2016. For NBC, the man who is also an actor developed the amusing, but no less interesting, concept of a series evolving around a young woman sent by mistake to paradise. Kristen Bell, Jameela Jamil and William Jackson Harper starred in this production that resembles a metaphysical reflection. The success was immediate, the press and the public were enthusiastic about the idea. The Good Place concluded in 2019 after four seasons full of twists and turns. Since then, Michael Schur has been rather discreet. He returns to Netflix with one of his close collaborators. In November, Ted Danson who played the boss of the “paradis” returns to play spies in the hospital environment. The story follows an elderly man hired by an agency to investigate a retirement home suspected of abuse. Taking advantage of his age to distract the staff, Charles hopes to discover the secrets of this establishment. However, he will quickly develop affection with the residents, each more zany than the last. The first images suggest a sweet and tender comedyexactly what viewers need as winter approaches. This will undoubtedly be a new opportunity for Ted Danson to exploit his comic potential, he who was impeccable in the role Michael. This time, he is surrounded by a few familiar faces, starting with Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune: Part One) et John Getz. We can also note the presence of Stephanie Beatrizunforgettable Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
November 21 on Netflix
If the arrival of autumn gives Netflix viewers a little slack, Old-fashioned spy promises to liven up the period a little. The appointment is made for November 21 on the American platform. Eight episodes are on the program for this series which promises to be entertainment to devour in a few days, over the course of a weekend. Note that the film is a free adaptation of the docufiction The Mole Agent by Maite Alberdi. Released in 2020 in Chile, the docufiction was offered on Netflix in 2021. It was awarded the title of best European film at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain. It also premiered at Sundance in 2020.
