WhatsApp keeps on bringing new features for its users. Now with the new update of 2.24.26.17 via the Google Play Beta Program, the app is bringing a new feature of mentioning group chats in status updates. The feature is right now available for some beta testers but the company is rolling it out for others in the coming weeks.
Mention Group Chats in Status Update:
The feature was under development for a few months but the company finally rolled it out. The feature will streamline communication with your friends, family, and loved ones. Now you can notify your entire group with just a single mention. This will allow you to be free from the hassle of mentioning everyone in the group individually. The latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.26.17 update is available on the Google Play Store and you can check by yourself whether or not the feature is available for your smartphone.
How the Feature will Work:
As soon as you mention a group in a status update, every individual from the group will receive a notification informing them about the mention. This will promptly alert them and they can engage in the status update immediately. Additionally, people mentioned in the group can share your status update with their contacts too. This will increase the visibility of your status. However, the cherry on a cupcake will not reveal the identity of the original poster. This broadens the audience’s reach if the status is important in terms of essential information or updates.
One of the essential information to note here is that the participants who are not included in the existing privacy settings for your status update will also be temporarily granted access to your status. There are some limitations too for this feature as you can only mention 5 group chats at a time and each group should not have more than 32 participants.
