NVIDIA has announced a $2 billion investment in chip company Synopsys as part of a strategy to accelerate its engineering and AI solutions. The agreement, which reinforces an already existing collaboration between the two companies, has a duration of several years.
Through it, NVIDIA will help Synopsys accelerate the development of its portfolio of compute-intensive applications and advanced agentic AI engineering. In addition, it will help Synapsys advance in cloud access, as well as in the joint development of initiatives that will later be brought to market, as well as in the connection of the physical and digital worlds through digital twins designed collaboratively by the teams of both companies.
Among the services Synopsys offers are component design and electronic design automation to help its clients develop AI-powered products. To make the investment, NVIDIA has purchased Synopsys shares, paying $414.79 for each one. The agreement is not exclusive, which means that both companies can work with other companies in the same sector.
Jensen Huang, CEO and Founder of NVIDIAhas pointed out that «CUDA GPU-accelerated computing is revolutionizing design, enabling simulations at unprecedented speed and scale, from atoms to transistors, from chips to entire systems, creating fully functional digital twins within the computer. Our collaboration with Synopsys harnesses the power of NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI to reinvent engineering and design, empowering engineers to invent extraordinary products that will shape our future.«.
As to Sassine Ghazi, CEO and President of Synopsyshas highlighted that «The complexity and cost of developing next-generation intelligent systems demand engineering solutions with deeper integration of electronics and physics, accelerated by AI and computing capabilities. No two companies are better positioned to deliver holistic AI-based system design solutions than Synopsys and NVIDIA. Together we will reshape engineering and empower innovators around the world so they can bring their innovations to life more efficiently.«.
