The Sonos Era 100 is a powerful, weighty speaker which we praised as offering a “more mainstream sound” compared to its predecessor. Essentially what this means is that there’s a strong bass level present, which gives genres such as R&B, Hip Hop and Pop much more impact.
While the Sonos Era 100 has touch controls at the top surface, it is also compatible with voice assistants Alexa and Sonos Voice Control. When using the latter, the wake-term is “Hey Sonos” which can be followed by a request for certain tracks, albums and the like from a preferred, compatible streaming service.
Powering the Era 100 is a processor that Sonos promises is “47% faster” than its predecessor, a next-gen dual-tweeter acoustic architecture and a midwoofer that’s 25% larger to deepen the bass.
Pair the Era 100 to the Sonos smartphone app to engage Trueplay tuning technology which cleverly analyses the acoustics of your space and optimises the EQ.
Design-wise, the Sonos Era 100 is a tall yet deep speaker with a slight curvature that makes it look slim. With this in mind, finding a space for it shouldn’t be an issue, as it balances looking stylish without being overbearing. You can immerse yourself in an even wider soundstage by pairing the Era 100 with another Sonos speaker.
