The Binding of Isaac is one of the games that brought the roguelike genre back to the forefront. Since its release in 2011, there have been countless independent titles placing the player on a course littered with enemies and fleeting rewards where death almost certainly awaits at the end of the path.
In 2014, the game’s creator, Edmund McMillen, released a new version of his hit, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. It features a brand new, very efficient game engine, revised character models, better visual effects and a new soundtrack.
However, a feature that fans have been clamoring for is missing: online co-op mode. As recently as September 2023, executive producer Tyrone Rodriguez indicated that online cooperation would soon arrive in the game. Good news, the release date of this new mode of The Binding of Issac has just been confirmed. You have until November 18 to find friends and family to share runs with.
The Binding of Isaac will receive its online co-op mode on November 18
Edmund McMillen announces on his X account that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, already playable in local co-op, will host an online co-op mode playable for up to four players on November 18. « Isaac online will feature a full online co-op mode (with achievements) as well as a considerable balance update that focuses heavily on improving items that you judge to be mediocre or bad », he wrote on November 4.

Please note, this will be exclusive to Steam. You won’t need to spend a single cent to play the roguelike shooter with friends, since the update is completely free. Ten years after its launch and nine years after the release of its DLC called Afterbirth, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth continues to live on, to the delight of fans.
Fortunately, because to this day, Edmund McMillen has never mentioned a potential The Binding of Isaac 2. Note that Rebirth is currently on sale, 50% off, on Steam. A good opportunity to discover what made it legendary for a rather modest sum.
