Oppo has recently launched its new flagship Find X9 smartphone series, which is made up of the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro.

But what really separates the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro? Should you upgrade to the Pro model, or is the entry-level handset perfectly sufficient? And, does either handset have a chance at making it into our best Android phone list?

We’ve compared specs of the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro and highlighted the key differences, alongside any noteworthy similarities, between the two phones below.

Price and Availability

As its name suggests, the Oppo Find X9 Pro is the most expensive of the series, with a starting RRP of £1099 / €1299.

In comparison, the Find X9 is slightly cheaper with a starting price of £899 / €999. Both the handsets are available to buy now, directly from Oppo’s official website.

Oppo Find X9 Pro has a 200MP telephoto lens

Although both the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are fitted with three rear lenses, they differ with their exact offerings. The Find X9 includes a 50MP main lens with a 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 sensor that’s accompanied by 50MP ultrawide and 50MP periscope telephoto lenses too.

Rounding off the lenses is a True Color Camera, a dedicated spectral sensor that measures ambient light for “more accurate colour reproduction” even in difficult lighting. Of course, as we haven’t reviewed the handset, we can’t verify these claims just yet.

Instead, the Find X9 Pro sports an Ultra XDR main lens with a customised 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT 828 sensor, that uses “groundbreaking” triple exposure technology for better detail.

However, easily the star of the show here is the 200MP 3x Hasselblad telephoto lens which promises superior light gathering and a 10cm minimum focus distance for macro shots too. This lens can also deliver high-quality lossless zoom up to 13.2x too.

Finally, Oppo explains that the Find X9 series is designed to be the “perfect companion” for concerts and live events too, thanks to their “unrivalled zoom” with the Super Zoom algorithm.

Oppo Find X9 Pro has a larger battery

While both are fitted with impressively mighty battery capacities, the X9 Pro takes the edge and boasts the largest found in any Oppo flagship. So, although Find X9 is fitted with a large 7025mAh, silicon-carbon battery, the Find X9 Pro boasts a massive 7500mAh alternative.

Considering the Find X8 Pro sported a much smaller 5910mAh cell yet still easily provided two-days of life on a single charge, we have high expectations for the entire Find X9 series.

Oppo has fitted both the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro with the same MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. Built on a third-generation 3nm processor, Dimensity 9500 promises up to 32% higher performance with 55% less peak power consumption compared to its predecessor, while its Arm G1-Ultra GPU delivers a “massive boost” too.

Oppo explains that these capabilities are enhanced by the Find X9 series’ customised vapor chambers to ensure the phones stay cool, even during intensive gaming. As we found that the Find X8 Pro had a tendency to heat up during use, this is an especially appealing improvement.

While we’re yet to review MediaTek Dimensity 9500, we’ve compared its specs to the Dimensity 9400 and to Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Oppo Find X9 Pro has a slightly larger display

Although the difference may seem small, it’s worth noting that the Find X9 Pro boasts a slightly larger display compared to the Find X9, at 6.78-inches compared to 6.59-inches. Whether you prefer a slightly larger display will depend on your personal opinion and what you intend on using your phone for. For example, those who watch content and game will likely prefer additional space.

Even so, both phones sport ultra-thin 1.15mm bezels for an immersive viewing experience, alongside heaps of premium screen technologies including a 120Hz display.

Oppo Find X9 Pro supports the Hasselblad Teleconverter lens

In addition to its 200MP Hasselblad telephoto lens, the Find X9 Pro supports a Hasselblad Teleconverter lens. The professional-grade accessory was designed exclusively for the Find X9 Pro and enables up to 200x digital zoom for photos and 50x for videos.

As you can see, the lens is not particularly subtle and definitely looks cumbersome, however in our early hands-on we found it was a brilliant addition to the phone.

Early Verdict

Considering both the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, deciding between the two might feel tricky. However, as the Find X9 Pro seems set to make it into our best camera phones list, especially when factoring in the additional teleconverter lens, if you’re looking for a decent snapper then the Find X9 Pro seems like a more appealing option.

On the other hand, if you want a solid handset that still promises a decent camera set-up and a mighty battery, then the Find X9 is a more affordable option.

We’ll be sure to update this versus once we’ve reviewed both handsets.
