For the purposes of this tier-list, we have divided the 33 superheroes available at the launch of Marvel Rivals, the free-to-play from NetEase with 10 million players recorded in 72 hours – and of which we are just testing here – in three categories: people stronger than you (S-Tier), very powerful people (A-Tier), interesting characters (B-Tier), the less opti characters (C-Tier), knowing that there are, strictly speaking, no zero heroes in the game. But some are already less accessible than others and too dependent on the map and team composition to be able to express yourself. Here we go!
People who are really stronger than you
- Venom
- Iron First
- Spider-Man
- Hawkeye
- Cloak and Dagger
- Captain America
- Adam Warlock
- Luna Snow
- Moon Knight
- Hela
Impossible not to place the anti-hero and best enemy of Spider-Man, Venomat the top of the list. In the absence of a good film, the character has everything: phenomenal resistance as a tank, hits that hurt, lots of mobility, an ultimate ravager. If there’s one name that should be included in your list of friends, it’s him. In another register, there is no stronger hand-to-hand combat thanIron Fist. Not only is the latter fast, but he can kill in a few hits and we’re not even talking about his ultimate. Having him against you is a nuisance, while well played, he brings the disorder for which he must be responsible during the games. Same for Spider-Manwhich kills less quickly, but is no less effective in creating discord. With his bow, Hawkeye requires a lot of composure, but he already has more chest than Black Widow and his arrows hurt very, very badly.

The Cloak and the Sword (Cloak and Dagger) is not easy to master, but his abilities hurt and make him a major character in the game to date. The leader of the Avengers Captain America has unfailing resistance and with its shield reflecting ultimates, it is to be taken very seriously. Adam Warlock is not only powerful but it can keep your entire squad alive and completely resurrect it. An incredible healer and painful to kill.
Luna Snow is essential and very strong in attack. Finally, and even if his ultimate is less strong than some comrades in this list, Moon Knight has a lot of options and can do significant area damage. It can both deal with enemies in the air as well as those on the ground and punishes quite easily. Finally, given his pedigree and his options, it is not a surprise to find Hela in this list, as his projectiles hurt.
Very powerful characters
- Scarlet Witch
- Dr Strange
- Big
- Rocket Racoon
- Mantis
- Punisher
- Star Lord
- Squirrel Girl
- Psylocke
- Jeff the Shark
If you want to line up kills and do big damage in enemy lines, Scarlet Witch is essential. The Scarlet Witch is ultra-easy to play, but has an ultimate that requires proximity to your enemies, knowing that it takes a little time to trigger, making you a target to take down quite simply. Dr Strange has for him his shield, but especially his portals, which, well placed, can be synonymous with mass damage in the opposing ranks (we see you those who send their adversaries into the void at the exit of their camp, we see you) . Related to Bigwhich in certain maps is just incredible with its ability to put up walls, Rocket Racoon stands out for its good quality of support. It allows the Punisher to have an ammo bonus and not have to reload. Another Guardian of the Galaxy, Mantis is an excellent support and its ability to put you to sleep is an asset if it is well combined with an attack from a teammate.
Frank Castle (The Punisher) has a phenomenal arsenal (submachine gun, shotgun, grenade, grappling hook and turret), is super easy to handle, but he is not very mobile. In corridor/funnel areas, however, it is almost unplayable. Star-Lord is also a great starter character, with lots of mobility, a baffling ultimate for the opposing team, and the ability to spray from afar. Squirrel Girl has the advantage of being the easy entry point for players new to hero shooters. And to be particularly profitable in terms of damage, by spamming the right button. From the world of X-Men, Psylocke and its invisibility allow it to play on two fronts, both behind the backs of enemies and in front of them. Finally, we felt obliged to put Jeff the Sharkits healing, but above all its long and devastating ultimate, which will throw more than one off the map, in this category.
Interesting characters
- Iron-Man
- Loki
- Magic
- Black Widow
- Thor
- Hulk
- Magneto
- Winter Soldier
Very heavy, but less strong than the two previous classes. For Iron Manthis is all the more true since his Ultimate has been revised downwards since this summer (you have to be really ready for it to be effective, which was not necessary just a few months ago), which means that “Iron Head” kills less effectively even if it remains a poison on certain maps. Loki is an excellent support, who has difficulty killing on the other hand. Magic requires a certain quality of play, the same goes for Black Widowwith ultra-fragile health and solutions, apart from his sniper rifle, less effective.
Thor is complicated to play and requires constant support to shine, the same for Hulkdevastating, but less than a Venom. Magneto is not the easiest to use and understanding the effectiveness of his skills – and how to combine them well with the rest of his team – takes a little time depending on your level of play. But the character is really effective when he is associated with his daughter, Scarlet Witch, to the point of going up a rank or two (yes, yes) in this configuration. One might have thought that the Winter Soldier would have similar gameplay to the Punisher. This is not the case. Extremely mobile, it is only effective in close combat, but struggles to compete with the other big names in the category (Iron Fist, Spider-Man). However, his grappling hook, in the melee, is a real plus for isolating an enemy.
The less opted-out characters
- Wolverine
- Namor
- Black Panther
- Storm
- Penny Parker
It was hard, given his popularity and our love for the character, to put Wolverine in this category. But between his basic skin -—to make your eyes bleed less, we invite you to collect the skin from the Deapool and Wolverine film in the store and quickly—and his partial assets, Logan clearly lacks power, a shame for the animal that it’s supposed to be. We will have to see if the latter will benefit from an update in the coming weeks.
Namortoo, would have deserved to be placed higher. But the Prince of the Seas, although it is very well played, is not so easy to handle, proof of which is its rather discreet presence during our many games. Black Panther suffers from comparison with Spider-Man and Iron Fist and the protector of Wakanda evolves a tone below the latter. Storm can pose problems, but less than Iron Man, with much slower projectiles, even if his mastery of the elements and more precisely of the wind offers a lot of mobility to his team. Finally, in our eyes, and despite its robot paraphernalia which can quickly become a problem in part, there are much better tanks, to date, than Penny Parker in the game.
