RICK Spielman is excited by the new look New York Jets after helping the team rip it up and start again.

Spielman, 62, was hired to usher in a new era for the franchise.

The Jets started completely from scratch this offseason after the disastrous Aaron Rodgers experiment.

They managed just five wins and finished third in the AFC East despite holding out playoff hopes before the season began.

Head coach Robert Saleh was fired in October and general manager Joe Douglas followed him out the door a month later.

Four-time MVP Rodgers, 41, was cut loose in free agency in March.

Former Minnesota Vikings general manager Spielman was brought in by Jets owner Woody Johnson to help the team’s fresh start.

He oversaw the hires of Aaron Glenn as head coach and Darren Mougey as general manager.

Spielman spoke to The Sun about the Jets’ new direction after moving on from Rodgers.

He said “I wasn’t in the building last year so I don’t know all the dynamics that are going on in the building.

“I know they tried to take that all-in approach with Aaron Rodgers and all the names signed.

“We went from one of the oldest teams and I know the vision now is let’s get young.

“Let our coaches develop these young players and let’s keep the continuity and let’s continue to add to the nucleus that this roster already has.

“I think that we were able to accomplish that this offseason, not only in free agency, but in the NFL Draft.”

Quarterback Justin Fields was the biggest Jets free agency splash.

The 26-year-old signed a two-year deal worth up to $40 million.

Wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Tyler Johnson were two other signings on the offensive side of the ball.

Defensively, the Jets brought in cornerback Brandon Stephens and safety Andre Cisco.

Spielman was adamant that owner Johnson’s ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl.

And he’s confident the team will be much better in 2025 than their 5-12 record last year.

“I think you want to win as many games as you can,” Spielman said.

“I don’t believe any organization comes into the season, especially this time of year, say ‘hey we’re only going to win three games this year.’

“Everybody’s trying to achieve the same thing and go out and win a Super Bowl and be called world champions.

“Our vision is to go out and win as many games as we can.

“I think people may be underestimating the New York Jets because of all the turnover, the new quarterback, new head coach, new general manager.

“But just my inside knowledge of seeing how everything is run and operated, seeing that at other places that I’ve been and also organizations that I’ve ran, I’m very excited for the New York Jets and the potential they have this year.”
