Parrot wins first orders from NATO for its mini-drone

Parrot does not hide its satisfaction: its ANAFI UKR micro-drones are now part of the catalog of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), the body responsible for purchasing for NATO member countries. As a result, the first orders have already been received. Deliveries began in the first quarter of 2026, with batches of between 100 and 500 units. Nothing spectacular at this stage, but volumes should gradually increase until reaching several thousand copies.

A drone designed for complicated situations

Two customers are already in the loop. On the one hand, the Finnish armed forces, the purchase of which had been mentioned previously. On the other, a second client, still unidentified for obvious reasons of confidentiality. Parrot promises to say more when possible.

For the French group, going through the NSPA changes the situation. This channel allows States to more easily purchase equipment validated by NATO, via standardized contractual mechanisms. “ This provides countries with a clear and established means to rapidly acquire capacity », Underlines Chris Roberts, sales director of Parrot. He sees “ a concrete step » in the deployment of the ANAFI UKR on a larger scale.

In other words, these first orders mainly serve as a springboard. The objective now is to transform the trial, with repeat purchases and potentially the addition of other Parrot products in this circuit. Behind these contracts, there is a well-targeted product. The ANAFI UKR is a micro-drone weighing less than one kg, designed to be used directly in the field, without heavy logistics. It deploys quickly, it is easily transported and it can be used discreetly.

But the main thing lies elsewhere: in its ability to operate where conditions are far from ideal. The drone is capable of flying without GPS, thanks to a mix of onboard AI and optical navigation. A central point in environments that are jammed or subject to electromagnetic disturbances. “ The need is for a compact system, quickly deployable and capable of remaining autonomous in an environment without GNSS », summarizes Chris Roberts. “ ANAFI UKR combines on-board AI and optical navigation to answer this. »

On the security side, Parrot also ticks the expected boxes. The drone features secure communications, a reinforced cybersecurity architecture and a military radio system with frequency hopping (MARS), designed to limit interceptions. Protections against spoofing – these attempts to deceive navigation systems – are also integrated.

The assembly has been tested in electronic warfare scenarios, a requirement for this type of equipment today. Parrot finally emphasizes an increasingly sensitive point: data control. The drone can operate completely autonomously, without connection, to ensure that the information collected remains under control.
