The Legend of Ochi (Aug. 8)
On the small island of Carpathia in the Black Sea, the children are taught to fear the mysterious Ochi. But when a young girl discovers a wounded baby Ochi, it kicks off an adventure to return it home. With excellent visual effects, this is a throwback movie to 80s fantasy adventures like The Neverending Story, so set up a family movie night for it.
Women Wearing Shoulder Pads (Aug. 18)
I’m a sucker for stop-motion animation, and this new Adult Swim series from Tuca & Bertie co-creator Gonzalo Cordova is full of it. It’s the first Spanish-language original series from Williams Street, the network’s in-house production company, and follows a wealthy woman who moves to Ecuador to make her fortune breeding enormous guinea pigs.
Peacemaker: Season 2 (Aug. 21)
Fresh off a cameo in Superman, Peacemaker returns for a second season of using violence for peace. After the chaos of the first season, our hero is looking to find a new lease on life, and he discovers it inside a parallel universe where he hasn’t made all the same awful choices. Unfortunately, we all know that nothing good ever happens from breaching the barriers between realities, and now his former friends and current enemies need to stop him before everything falls apart.
