March is a pretty impressive month for Netflix, as every week brings a ton of new content for subscribers to stream. Every week, I go through the listings to pick out new material that’s worth your time, and the third week in March has a killer Nordic detective saga, a scary series from Stranger Things producers, and more. Here’s what you should stream this time around.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (March 20)

This is an interesting one. Peaky Blinders is one of the most popular British shows on Netflix, and after six seasons, it came to a close in 2022, to the disappointment of fans. But creator Steven Knight realized he had another story to tell, so he’s taking us back to Birmingham, this time in 1940. As World War II rages, former gang leader Tommy Shelby returns home to find that the more things change, the more your problems stay the same.

Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (March 26)

Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø’s detective novels featuring troubled cop Harry Hole are some of the bleakest entries in the genre, combining horrific human atrocities with deep-seated trauma. They’re getting a series adaptation at Netflix and early buzz is very strong. The first season of Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole adapts the fifth book, The Devil’s Star, where a gruesome killer is taken into custody and Harry is tasked with handling him extrajudicially before he is brought to trial.

  • Directors: Øystein Karlsen, Anna Zackrisson

  • Cast: Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman, Pia Tjelta

  • Genre: Drama

  • Rating: TV-MA

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen (March 26)

From the producers of Stranger Things comes a new horror series that looks promising. Rachel and Nicky are a young couple just a week out from their wedding, but as final plans get made, a shocking premonition of disaster calls everything they know into question. Creator Haley Z. Boston previously wrote for the excellent Brand New Cherry Flavor, so we’re expecting good things from Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen.
