Perplexity Ai has made a small place in WhatsApp, with a simple idea: answer questions as easily as we send a message to a friend. To start, simply add the number +1 (833) 436-3285 to your contacts, then open a discussion. No registration is required, and there is not even an option to associate a perplexity account with WhatsApp – an ease of use which also has its counterparts, such as the lack of synchronization of exchanges with the main app.
An assistant to do everything
The interface is minimalist, the AI responses are fast, often in a few seconds, but also very succinct: a few lines at best, whatever the level of complexity of the question. For more excavated analyzes or access to functions like “Deep Research”, it is better to go back to the dedicated application.

Perplexity in WhatsApp, however, is not satisfied with the text: AI accepts voice messages (which it transcribes and treats), generates images on request, and can even modify visuals. It also incorporates sources directly into the conversation, and displays the images without going through external links – an appreciable detail, where others IA like chatgpt refer to an url. Another practical function: Perplexity can interpret the transferred messages, useful in particular to check the reliability of a viral chain.
Perplexity’s WhatsApp version is not limited to instant messaging. As an option, the tool now offers a programmed summaries service, like a personal mini assistant. We can ask him, for example: ” Send me a summary of the tech news every morning at 8 a.m. ». Better yet: these summaries can be sent as a podcast, read aloud directly in the app. Practical to follow the news by cooking or going to work!
This scheduled notification function is reserved for professional or company users, but conventional questions and occasional summaries remain free. It is also possible to modify or delete reminders at any time via simple text commands. On the other hand, this option only works in private discussion, and not in groups.
Faced with Chatgpt, which is also integrated into WhatsApp (with account synchronization and often more detailed responses), Perplexity put more on lightness and speed. Its current limits – such as the brevity of responses – could however fade over time. The company has already had to briefly suspend the bot after its launch, the victim of an influx of unexpected user.
